Affinity Photo needed the ability to place Text On A Curve. This shows you how to achieve this with the use of a macro. Don't fear, the macro can be downloaded from my website here and you just unzip it to a suitable folder and double click on it while having Affinity Photo open. It will install and you can use it straight away from the Macro Library under Mud's Macros. Sitting on my hotel balcony in Murcia, Spain seemed like the perfect time to use this combo to its best advantage. Editing a shot taken with my iPhone and stored in Apple Photos it worked perfectly. The whole process takes only minutes. From a scrubby photo of a rural olive grove scene with sagging power-lines and dirty concrete driveway, I’ve ended with a nice photo with just what looks nice. Inpainting and cropping were all it took. For the interested, the Keynote intro movie and iMovie clip were all done still sitting here in my chair on the balcony. This is a basic technique for applying adjustments in Affinity Photo. You can apply more adjustments following the same steps; you can later double click on the mask of a previously applied effect to make the control window appear and modify it. This photography-topic goes hand in hand with any design-topic. The same photo and design rules apply. 1. Load the image you want to adjust. Let's adjust the sky in a landscape. 2. Let's add an HSL layer by selecting the Adjustment Studio. 3. Select Desaturate from the two options. Don't worry about the lack ofm options you will be changing the image anyway, and Desaturate is less startling than Inverting the image. 4. When you tap the Desaturate panel a new item appears in the Layer stack directly above your image layer. A white square with a black and white circle in it. This layer is your mask layer. This layer or Mask actually is a mask layering over your image. Make sure you still have it selected. 5. Select the HSL circle from the lower Adjustments Tool Bar and apply your adjustments to the image as you want them. It will change the entire image but don't panic. When you are happy with your sky ( which us why we are doing this... ) 6. Select the Brush tool, 7. Select Black as the colour 8. Check the brush width, and begin painting over the sky in the image. 9. You will see the HSL layer effects disappearing where you paint. 10. Invert the mask by now selecting the Channel Studio. Then select the three dots next to the Mask channel. Now select Invert. 11. Now your adjustment is applied only where you painted. My Channel Details.
